BIO: RAFAEL CASTILLO | RAFAPASTA

I was born in Seville (Spain) in 1989. When I was three years old, my kindergarten teacher called my parents because I drew the typical house that little children make... in isometric perspective. We could say that I have had art in my soul for more than 30 years.

This early vocation was reinforced by personal obstacles that could have kept me away from it.

Still, I faced it all and learned on my own, because when Art calls you:

YOU CAN'T REFUSE IT. SO WHAT HAPPENED?

BY ACCEPTING MY PURPOSE...

Success came to me: exhibitions, galleries, hundreds of people who have tattooed my designs, more than 26,000 homes decorated, awards...

But that was not where I found the meaning of life. The meaning lies in being able to help others find Art.

For this reason I make an art very influenced by Symbolism, Romanticism (with slight touches of surrealism) and focused on the exploration of the human and collective soul (Nature).

All this with a vision/mission in mind...

MISSION

I am an artist of Animals, Nature and Souls.

I make art because it is my true self. I believe that art and imagination are the beginning of human creation. It spreads ideas and stories, these provoke thoughts and emotions... and these inspire actions. Art shapes reality.

My mission is to paint all the fauna of the planet and cover every temple and sculpture created by man with flowers. To tell a story that makes us grow, get to know ourselves and expand beyond the body. And this has led me to...

I am self-taught, I have learned from great teachers and from a deep connection with the whole.

THE FOUR PILLARS OF MY ART:

  • Strength: Many people who have my Wild Animals pieces have told me that they often put them in the hallway. Because the animals look back at them and give them energy to face the day.
  • Healing: Some psychologists told me that they used my works in their therapies. The patients looked at the paintings while guiding their minds. Some people have written to thank me for helping them overcome depression. Through the act of observing themselves.
  • Paz: Several healthcare professionals have used my paintings to decorate waiting rooms and relax patients.
  • Gratitude from the heart: A mother commissioned a “Heart Tree” painting to give as a thank you to the team of cardiologists who saved her son’s life.

Behind the paintings there is an emotion, a subtle story that they were able to see and that accompanies them.

I always start drawing from the bottom, with fear and with hesitant strokes full of nerves, that stroke discharges energy onto the next one, which is already firm and relaxed... until I reach the top, where everything is fire and energy.

I create art to unite and inspire people , to create bonds with themselves and with nature, to create beautiful emotions. Because change begins with oneself and in one's own home.

And if we have built this in a decade, what couldn't we all do in a lifetime?
